While it's still too early to tell, with any certainty, which direction Irma will follow, we do know, no matter what, its impact will be felt to some extent or another throughout South Florida.
NEW MODELS ARE IN!! Keep in mind Irma is still a power Category 5 hurricane so SFLO will feel impacts! pic.twitter.com/rujHUWfIUt— WPLG Local 10 News (@WPLGLocal10) September 6, 2017
If we're "lucky", some weakening may occur in the upcoming day or two but that's no reason to get complacent. For our part, we've implemented our standard Hurricane Preparedness Plan to protect the vessels in our care. Precautionary measures include, but are not limited to:
- Repositioning to sheltered harbor, if possible
- Doubling up lines
- Putting out extra fenders
- Lowering antennae
- Removing exterior canvas & cushions
- Securing tenders & toys
- Springing off from docks were necessary
- Making sure bilge pumps are operational
- Removing all perishables from refrigerators & freezers
As always, we're bracing for the worst but hoping for the best. We hope you're not waiting until the last minute to prepare. Stay safe, mates!
