Watchstanders in the Coast Guard 7th District command center received the request for a medical evacuation at 6:20 p.m., Wednesday. The 40-year-old woman aboard the Bimini Superfast ferry had reportedly suffered a head injury.
An MH-65 Dolphin search and rescue helicopter from Miami was launched and arrived on scene at 7:15 p.m. The injured woman was hoisted into the helciopter and then transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital for further treatment.
