Aground, Adrift, Afloat

After spending most of the weekend beached at Vilano, just north of St. Augustine, FL, the 64-foot Hatteras motoryacht, "Rays The Bar", was towed back out to sea Monday morning.
The yacht was near the end of a delivery from Boston to Fort Lauderdale when it hit bottom just outside the St. Augustine Inlet about 3:30 p.m. Saturday in heavy seas and a dense fog that came on quickly.
With the yacht disabled, the captain anchored and called for assistance. Unfortunately, after she and her daughter were taken off the vessel for the night, the anchor separated, leaving the boat adrift until it washed ashore at Vilano Beach.
Despite a pending yard bill for damaged props and shafts and a salvage bill of about $40,000, [owner, Jeff] Ray was grateful for the outcome.
And we're grateful all souls are safe [and that we don't have to foot the bill!].

Noah's Ark Launched!

Modern day Noah?
AP Photo | Peter Dejong
We think this is pretty incredible! Over the past 20 years, Dutchman, Johan Huibers painstakingly built a life-sized replica of Noah's Ark. And when we say, "painstakingly," we mean down to every last dimensional detail as set forth in the Bible.
Translating to modern measurements, Huibers came up with a vessel that works out to a whopping 427 feet (130 meters) long, 95 feet (29 meters) across and 75 feet (23 meters) high.
The massive masterpiece, which has a restaurant and movie theater on the top level and an actual petting zoo, is now open to the public and moored just south of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. To read all about Johan's motivation, determination and what he has planned next, click here!

Well done, Johan!

M/Y Freedom In The News ... Again

Thanks to the Triton newspaper for acknowledging the Captain & Crew of M/Y Freedom for the recent work with Freedom Waters Foundation [see page 3 of this month's publication]. As we've said before, we had a wonderful experience and look forward to working with FWF on a regular basis in the future.
