It's National Safe Boating Week and we're happy to read this morning's Sun Sentinel report of three men rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard from the waters off Grand Bahama Island on Sunday.

According to the USCG, a 35' sail boat sank about 22 miles northwest of West End while the crew was sleeping. Having activated their EPIRB, the three men were found in their life jackets, clinging to a water cooler.
"Lucky for them they had all the right gear aboard," said Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Barry Bena. "That may have saved their lives."
Captain Chris Scraba, Commanding Officer of Coast Guard Sector Miami added, "These boaters survived a potentially fatal accident because they were prepared."

What a timely message! And welcome home to the cold and hungry sailors. We're glad everyone is safe and sound!
